my first ever marathon run xD
when i first received the e-mail from the SubCt Sports Committee to register for the run, i was pretty tempted to go. and the fact that we only need to pay like $5, the remaining fees of $20 will be subsidise from the SubCt welfare fund xD
so Audrey, Daphne, Ginnette, Xue Ni and me decided to register for it. but then, Audrey and Daphne have to register under Individual Registration, while Ginnette, Xue Ni and me would be registered under Corporate Registration.
and since it was our first marathon run, we decided to only go for the 6km run instead of 10km, haha. testing out the distance first xD
i woke up at 5am that morning, and damn the stupid weather. it's another rainy day again. why?? again?? after the New Moon Big Walk, it's another raining event =/
anyway, i learnt my lesson from the Big Walk, never going to wear white shoes again, especially on rainy days. instead, i wore my super old and dirty shoes for the run.
got ready, tied my yellow ribbon shoelace which was additional bought for $2, and left house at around 6.30am. i meet up with Daphne, Ginnette and Xue Ni inside the train when i hop up from Outram station, while Audrey hop up our train from Paya Lebar Station. and all the way, we trained down to Expo.

inside the MRT!!

my super old and dirty shoes!!
it has been with me for MANY years xD

heh, all of us bought the Yellow Ribbon Shoelace
we played a part in helping to set a new record for the "Most Numbers of Runners Wearing Yellow Shoelaces" in the Singapore Book of Record.
finally reached Expo at around 7.15am. and we can see many people wearing the yellow shirt. lol. so many runners, all heading to one location xD!!
we went into the Expo for toilet break, and then find one corner to put on our D-tag attached to our shoes and also to pin up our number bib.

the crowd at Expo Station

D-tag & Number Bib are up!!

and off we go!!!!

poof!! go 62886!!!
and then we proceed out for shuttle bus services that will bring us to the starting point at SAF Open Field, Farnborough Road, which was somewhere near Changi Village.
the moment we alighted from the bus, the place was crowded with people, and there's volunteer around giving out ponchos! looks like they were pretty well-prepared for bad weather. at least, the run wouldn't be cancelled xD
and then, after wearing all our ponchos, we queued up to deposit our bags. the volunteers actually gave out big plastic bag each to put our bags inside, and then tie it up so that our bags wouldn't get dirty or wet when deposited into the baggage area.
and next, once our bags were deposited, time to head off to the starting point!! made our way there, with poncho all on!!!

our Shuttle Bus
YOG BUS!! =D

deposit of baggage area.

YELLOW RIBBON!!

on the way to the starting point

estimated around 150 metres more to starting point..

50 metres more!!
and off we start!! jogging in this kind of cold and wet weather. the wind kept blowing, rain water kept slapping, poncho kept falling off from my head.. totally wet!!
the running distance had quite a number of incline slope. Audrey, Ginnette and me actually chiong up the up slope and then speed all the way down the down slope. lol.
our 6km route would be starting from SAF Field -> Loyang Avenue -> Abingdon Road -> Cosford Road -> Upper Changi Road North -> Changi Prison Complex.

first kilometre!!
Loyang Avenue

weee!! 2km spotted!!
somewhere around Abingdon Road

so cold xD

3km finally!!
heading to Prison Logistics Branch!~
more up slope and down slope ahead. and finally, we reached the Cosford Road, and Johore Battery is one of the main attractions along the run route xD. it was built by the British in 1939 at the start of World War II, as a gun emplacement site consisting of a labyrinth of tunnels.

4km now..
2 more kilometres to go xD

let's continue!!
after continue for a little distance more, we finally came to the junction where the 6km runners and 10km runners had to split route. turn left for 10km runners and continue running straight for the 6km runners xD

we are the 6km runners xD

Old Changi Prison Wall xD

finishing point spotted!!!!

6KM FINISH!!!
yay. we finally completed our 6km run. reached Changi Prison Complex. survived throughout the run. we came back totally wet, not from our sweat, but the rain water. lol.
the 5 of us ran together. we run, we walk, we speed, we chiong, we stop, wait for one another, we take pictures at every attraction we run past. and of course, we completed the run together at the same time. like so super fun xD
and now, we were totally drenched. from head to toe. my feet was soaked inside my super wet shoes. lol

VICTORY!!

super wet shoes!!!
my old shoes suddenly looked so "new".

tired look
we went to retrieve back our bags at the baggage collection area, which was at the big big grass field area. so watery and muddy. puddles of water can be seen everywhere. and what's worse, out of so many colour areas, we deposited our bags at the green area, which has the most people and the longest queue. why do we choose green at the first place =/

other colour got no queue except the GREEN =S
after waited for super long, all of us finally got back our bags. quickly left the muddy place to collect our goodie bags! and then went over to the shelter hut and the booth area there.

items inside the goodie bag!!

Finisher Memento!!

after the run?
looks more like after shower!!

group picture without Xue Ni!!!
and there's also people around there walking around with some "ex-offenders" and they actually randomly looking for people to help them unlock their lock, to give them a second chance. lol.
Ginnette and me were asked to help unlock!! they pass us a super big KEY to UNLOCK for them.

Keys to Unlocking the Second 'Prison'

and we each actually got 2 free complimentary passes to Science Centre

our free complimentary passes!!
we left the place at around 11am, back to Expo for our lunch. felt super hungry after the run. we walked back out for free shuttle bus that will bring us back to Expo, and on the way. Daphne and me were ransacking our goodie bag. digging out fruits!! lol. there's Daphne favourite banana, and my favourite apple xD

Banana & Apple

YOG bus!!
Lyo & Merly =D

so many shuttle buses!!
we reached Expo at around 11.30pm and started hunting for foods. while walking in to the Expo, we saw this super big banner hanging on the wall publishing Texas Chicken.
and so, after we got change back to our normal clothing, we decided to lunch in at Texas Chicken. Audrey, Ginnette, Xue Ni and me bought a family feast to share.
first time trying it, not that bad. although i still much more prefer the chicken at Popeye xD. not a great fan of those biscuit, even Popeye one i also don't like. so i gave my share to Audrey xD she's like rubbish dump to me =X everything i don't want or don't like, just dump it to her. she has got a dark hole stomach xD

Texas Chicken
8 pcs chickens with 2 large sides and 4 biscuits @ $25.90

after our lunch, we went over to Suntec City for Comex 2010. finally IT fair is back. We have got alot of things to buy. Ginnette and Joshua wanted to get a camera, while i wanted to get myself an mp3 player. my previous mp3 player has been with me for 4 years, and now it's pronounced dead =/
Ginnette, Joshua and Xue Ni were pretty busy choosing what kind of camera to buy, and so i went away to look for Audrey and Daphne, and they helped me hunt for an mp3 player xD
after hunting high and low, i decided to get Creative Zen X-Fi Style 8GB mp3 player at a super discounted price of $109. and then Daphne and me also got for ourselves a screen protector for our laptop.
i bought an 11.6 inches one for my Acer Aspire 1410 xD and that costed me $15!!

my Creative Zen X-Fi Style 8GB
the 3 of us head home after that since Ginnette, Joshua and Xue Ni were going to Funan IT Mall for camera. looks like they couldn't get one at the Comex xD. but they managed to each get themselves a camera at Funan! yay!~ 满载而归
and lastly..... a Certificate of Participation was posted to our address a few weeks later!!
Certificate of Participation
we were not really very serious when running this Yellow Ribbon Run. it seems like we walked more than we run. must be due to the rain, and the fact that it was our first time joining a marathon... play-play first, run for fun xD
anyway, after running the 6km, we realised that the distance was quite acceptable., and most importantly, we actually still have the energy to run more. and so, we decided to go for the next marathon... Nike City 10K!!!!
and i shall have a real serious run for my NIKE CITY 10K - SG vs KL on the 24th October 2010!!!
