Heartland Explorer III: Night Cycling
Written at Sunday, November 28, 2010 | back to top

27th November 2010 - Saturday

yay. night cycling is back again, like after 5 months. the previous one was held in June, i remembered that time after i completed the whole 75km, i was complaining and whinning because my butt and legs hurt like crazy. yes, and i'm joining it again to let my body experience the pain once more lol!~

finally this time round Joshua was back with us for the night journey, together with Ginnette, Moo, Ting Yu, Damien and Gavin (Ginnette's brother and his friend). well, one of Damien's friend last minute back out, and so Ginnette immediately find her cousin, Jeremy, to substitute since he just lived nearby our area. phew!~

and once more, we played the bus hopping game. i boarded bus 963 from my house and they would hopped up that particular bus i board. due to the previous incident, i quickly called Ginnette to pay attention to the upcoming buses, as i do not want them to missed it again like last time =/

they managed to board it as the bus didn't zoomed as fast as last time. the bus was pretty packed, and we actually took the seat right infront, the one behind the bus driver. lol

on the bus towards Woodlands!

we made our way to Woodlands Community Centre to register our attendance. and also to meet Joshua, Moo and Ting Yu xD. and seriously, they ran out of S size shirts and imagine the 3 of us have to wear M size shirts =S anyway, this would be my third piece of lime green woodlands tee shirts xD

awesome, i think i have an addiction in collecting event tees! haha

got changed in toilet

are u ready?

SET OFF!!

we set off our long night journey at 10.41pm, towards our destination, which was at the other end of Singapore, East Coast Park. a totally different route from the previous 2 night cycling, we cycled via West Coast this time round, which means we would be cycling past my house area. so excited!!! xD

with my past 2 experience, i'm pretty stable on cycling by the road in the dark. i'm a certified cyclist =D hahaha.

fianlly, we reached our first pitstop after cycling for 1 hour 10 minutes.

Woodlands --> Bukit Panjang Plaza(11.48pm)

the route we covered as Moo was on GPS mode all along
Woodlands - Bukit Panjang

time to take a rest at Bukit panjang's McDonald's. Jeremy was really one generous person, he treated Ginnette, Ting Yu and me each one ice milo from Mac.

@Pitstop #1: Bukit Panjang McDonald's

Ice Milo xD

well, rested enough as it was just a short rest and it's time to proceed on! another hour of cycling non- stop, up slope and down slope. we reached our second pitstop @ King Albert Park.

Woodlands --> Bukit Panjang Plaza --> King Albert Park (12.46am)

route covered: Bukit Panjang - Bukit Timah

@Pitstop #2: King Albert Park McDonald's

photos break!!

this time round we were given a longer break, long enough for us to finish one extra value meal. lol. but nah, not in the mood to have supper now. started to feel tired and sleepy already.

Jeremy and his generosity again, he treated us with a box of 20 pieces Chicken McNiggets. Ginnette and me felt a little bad keep on asking him to treat, and so we each chipped in $2 into his wallet xD

Chicken McNuggets!

group photo

well, this place gave me alot of memories. the McDonald's was directly opposite Ngee Ann Poly, i used to have lunch with my classmates during my poly days. i missed those days!!

after 30 minutes of rest. it's time to set off, we left the place at around 1.15am, and the sky looked as if it's going to rain any moment. but no matter what, the cycling will still have to go on, the most we will cycle with poncho on! lol.

and we continued our long journey, passby Ngee Ann and i bid farewell to my school. i missed NP badly!! journey continued for about 50 minutes or so before reaching our third pitstop @ Pasir Panjang Road.

Woodlands --> Bukit Panjang Plaza --> King Albert Park --> Pasir Panjang Rd (2.09am)

route covered: Bukit Timah - West Coast

@Pitstop #3: Pasir Panjang Rd

we were actually given time to have supper in one of those shops selling malay foods or so, but so hard to find seats, plus we were not that hungry due to the McNuggets we ate an hour ago, so we just borrowed the toilet, and then rested ourselves at the pathway outside those shops.

we stood/sat at this pathway for like very long
rested, talked, laughed and so on.

i'm so so tired that i just sat on the ground and stoned down there. lol. until we were called to set off, then i unwillingly move my butt off the ground lol.

time to move on, and i'm near to my house area already. just a few more kilometre down, we should be able to passby Telok Blangah xD, and then more more more down would be HarbourFront and Vivo City, and there's a killer up slope at Bukit Purmei towards Kampong Bahru. majority were unable to cycle the super steep up slope, we have to get off the bike and push it up, lol.

and then further down, we reached Chinatown, and passby our workplace =S anyway, soon we reached our fourth pitstop @ The Central.

Woodlands --> Bukit Panjang Plaza --> King Albert Park --> Pasir Panjang Rd --> The Central (3.37am).

route covered: West Coast - Clarke Quay
@Pitstop #4: The Central

this was a really really really a short toilet break only. we were only given 5 minutes, but all the toilets inside The Central were like locked?! MRT station was locked as well. totally no toilet break for us at all, and we have to move on T_T. that was so bad!!

the next journey was rather short, it was one of the shortest route to the next pitstop. we only cycled for 20 minutes and reached our fifth pitstop @ Bras Basah.

Woodlands --> Bukit Panjang Plaza --> King Albert Park --> Pasir Panjang Rd --> The Central --> Bras Basah (3.54am).

route covered: Clarke Quay - Bras Basah

@Pitstop #5: Bras Basah Kopitiam

well, there's like more pitstop this time round, however the resting time was much more shorter. it's like 5 to 10 minutes and we have to move on. haven't even catch back my breath and we have to continue =/

dragged my tired leg, forced it up the bike and cycled! another 1 hour journey to reach our sixth pitstop @ Stadium Walk.

Woodlands --> Bukit Panjang Plaza --> King Albert Park --> Pasir Panjang Rd --> The Central --> Bras Basah --> Stadium Walk (4.40am).

route covered: Bras Basah - Kallang

@Pitstop #6: Stadium Walk

I NEED TO REST BADLY LAH!!

i immediately jumped off from my bike and dropped dead on the ground. lol, i mean rested on the ground. i fell asleep while sitting down there waiting for Ginnette and Moo. freaking sleepy!!

we rested for quite some times before continuing, get on the bike and time to move on. i'm so so so damn tired, my shoulder, my butt and my legs were rebelling and complaining already, but no choice i have to force it to cooperate with me!

while on the way to our next pitstop, Jeremy was down there annoying me and bombed my head with all his crappy rubbish. and he kept calling me "Pek-Chek" lol. power him, he nagged non-stop all the way till our seventh pitstop @ Stadium Boulevard.

Woodlands --> Bukit Panjang Plaza --> King Albert Park --> Pasir Panjang --> The Central --> Bras Basah --> Stadium Walk --> Stadium Boulevard (5.09am).

route covered: Kallang - Stadium Boulevard

@Pitstop #7: Kallang Walk McDonald's

yeah, took a short break before moving on. and this was also the point where we will be going on 2 separated route, extended route or straight to East Coast Park.

Moo was selected to be in-charge of leading those who doesn't want to go for the extended route, straight to East Coast Park. our whole own group plus a few others decided to go straight to ECP, while the rest followed Jin Peng to their extended route xD

and yea, 2 seperated groups went on seperate route. and from here, we cycled all the way back. it felt like torture to me, i'm already entered the East Coast Park zone, but why is Area C still so far away. i forced myself to keep on pedal and pedal until i saw McDonald's. I WAS SO HAPPY!!!

reached! we reached finally!!!!!! we finally reached our last and final destination @ East Coast Park. Jin Peng and his group came back at the same time as us, that was fast! i thought they went for extended route?! lol. nevermind, that was not the main point. the main point was... WE CAN REST FINALLY!!~

Woodlands --> Bukit Panjang Plaza --> King Albert Park --> Pasir Panjang --> The Central --> Bras Basah --> Stadium Walk --> Stadium Boulevard --> EAST COAST PARK (6.03am)

route covered: Stadium Boulevard - East Coast Park

@Destination: East Coast Park McDonald's

group photo

omg, i finally completed the whole entire route from Woodlands to East Coast Park all by cycling. my butt and legs were totally pain like mad, i don't feel my legs existence anymore, they're like gone!!! i couldn't walk properly, everywhere is aching like mad.

i stoned down there for awhile before dragging my lost legs to queue up for breakfast! finally i can settled down peacefully for my wonderful breakfast @ 6am plus.

Sausage McMuffin with egg

S.M.I.L.E

heh, remembered the previous time i came here for Run For Hope, which was only 1 week ago. the S.M.I.L.E was totally in white, no painting on it yet. and now there's monkey painting on it. like so cool!!~

okay, after taking a picture we left East Coast Park for home. made our way out to the bus stop and took 196 back to Bukit Merah Central. guessed all of us were really exhausted, we slept throughout the journey until Joshua and Moo missed their stops.

it was really an achievement and sense of satisafaction, we cycled for like 50km. and we actually visited 4 McDonald's in one night. ranging from the west to the east. from Bukit Panjang to King Albert Park to Kallang Walk and lastly East Coast Park. lol.

P/S: i'm not going to touch bicycle for at least 2 weeks xD

Run For Hope
Written at Sunday, November 21, 2010 | back to top

yeahh.. this was another running event which was subsidised by Subordinate Courts. i received an email from the SubCt Sports Committee regarding the run, and SubCt will subsidise $10 for us if we join the run.

Ginnette, Xue Ni and me decided to join again together with other Sports Committee members, Lisa was kinda tempted to join, but she doesn't want to run 10km. so in order to make her join with us, we decided to only go for the 4km run instead, to run together with her xD.

i woke up at 5am, left house at 6am to Outram MRT Station. Lisa reached Outram too early that the first train was not even operating yet. lol. we met up with Ginnette's friend, Dickson, too. he actually joined the 10km run with his friend, but all his friends last minute pang seh him, and since he doesn't want to run alone, so he joined us for the 4km instead. lol

we took train to Eunos, and transferred bus 13 to East Coast Park. reached at around 7am xD

beautiful sunrise at 7.15am!!

S.M.I.L.E
we looked really mini here xD

well, the Run For Hope starting point was really far from where we were. we were like walking and walking from one area to another, and we still don't see sign of the carnival booth and so on.

and just for the walking part alone already took us 30 minutes to reach the starting point. like super lame. why is it located so far inside?!

Run For Hope banner spotted xD

unlimited milo provided from the Milo truck
(is it the milo that gave me diarrhoea the next day? hmm)

Start Point..

yes, finally bumped into some SubCt colleagues, Sarah and Helmy, the photographer of the day. quickly ran forward to take some photos with them.... because i want my photo to appear in SubCt's intranet. lol, no lah no lan. just kidding =X

group photo with some SubCt staffs

and yeah, off we run for our 4km. anyway, the run wasn't that bad. but i really really don't quite like to run long distance at East Coast Park. at least, if i ran outside, by the roadside or what, i get to see some changes of scenery on my running route. it gave me motivation to run.

however, when running at East Coast Park, i see only sky, sea and trees. and the running route from head to toe looked exactly the same. no cars, no buildings, nothing =/

anyway, i still managed to complete the run by running half and walking half. lol. and for this run, we don't have a number bib, we don't have a D-tag, because this was a charity run, not a competitive race =) we're running for charity!

Finish Point. ^^Y

immediately, we went to the deposit baggage area to retrieve back our bags. and i utterly regretted to deposit my bag in the blue zone. some clown's bag couldn't be found, and thus my queue was jammed down there, not moving at all. maybe it did, but tiny bits of movement only.

Lisa was the first to collect her bag, and then slowly followed by Ginnette and Xue Ni. i was the only idiot left behind together with my super-long-not-moving-queue with all the unfortunate people who deposited the bag at the blue zone.

i waited for extra 30 minutes myself standing under the super hot sun, stepping on super muddy grass and waiting for my super slow queue to move. yeah. my skin colour was definitely much much more darker than the rest, because i had an additional 30 minutes of "sun-tanning" session while the rest stand under shade to wait for me. lol

crowd at the booth area

bags collected finally xD
a group photo with the FINISH banner!!!

another group photo

super dirty and muddy poor shoes.

we walked back the super long distance back to Area C. it's like we walked 3km to the starting point, and the ran for 4km, and then walked another 3km from finishing point back to Area C, lol. so can i say we total walk and run 10km?! lol. anyway, we went McDonald's for breakfast, super hungry xD

breakfast!!!

the 3 of us squeezed inside the handicapped toilet to get changed!

and next, Dickson told us that if we register our Sundown Marathon at Expo today, we can get free Sundown 2010 race shirt. yes yes, the race was held in May this year, and they have like alot shirt left, so they are giving it out for free to those who registered at Expo today.

anyway, we have already planned to join Sundown in the first place, so we might as well go down to Expo and register since it was just nearby.

Lisa didn't come with us to Expo because she does not have the intention to join Sundown, and so she left home first while the 4 of us took bus to Bedok and took train down to Expo.

there's some exhibition hall with anime booth inside which drew Ginnette and Xue Ni's attention. they got lured inside to the hall, and Xue Ni started spamming money on Stitch's items.

there's another booth selling alot japanese foods and sweets, and there's a Scrump soft toy which immediately caught Xue Ni's attention. she was down there struggling whether to buy or not, while i'm beside her brainwashing her that, our pay is coming, counter allowance is coming and most importantly, bonus is coming in as well xD

ya, she couldn't resist and buy it in the end. lol. Ginnette and Xue Ni also bought quite a few types of sweets. i only bought 1 grape chewy sweet just to help them to hit $30 so that they can be members =X

Scrump soft toy, sweets and member cards

there's this packet of sweets which was quite fun to play with. the sweet was originally all in purple colour, but it will slowly changed to either shiny transparent, transparent, yellow or green.

the shiny transparent got the best of luck, but there's only 1 inside the whole packet. transparent would be good luck, yellow was normal and lastly green was the bad luck one.

so the 4 of us took 1 each, Dickson was the sway-est among us all because his sweet was green straight. he don't even have the chance to see it turned from purple to green, it's green on the spot for him LOL. and the 3 of us each got purple one, which means we still have chance xD

SWEETS xD

we started chewing the sweets, and waited for it to slowly change colour. well, i got transparent sweet, running good luck? yay. Ginnette got yellow and Xue Ni got the green one LOL. i was kinda surprised that i got the transparent one becuase i have been down on my luck for the past few days. so i guess, my unlucky days are coming to an end, and lady luck was awaiting for me? xD

well, enough of it, and we proceeded to another exhibition hall for our Sundown 2011 registration. yeah, registration finally opens. i waited for very long =/

Sleep Can Wait.
Sundown Marathon 2011

we queued up to get our registration done, paid $42 for a 10km race, and we got an additional Sundown 2010 race shirt for free =) anyway, Sundown was much much more expensive than other marathon. i only paid $26.75 for Nike Run loh =/ see the difference, almost double the price loh =S

so happy that we finally registered for it. now have to go back and ask Audrey and Daphne to register too. early bird does have discount. haha. and we tried to psyco Dickson to join as well =D

a photo with our free Sundown 2010 race shirt.
