SSG first ever overseas trip together. we've decided to go for a 1-day Desaru Fruit Farm + Ostrich Farm + Fireflies Tour. we booked the trip just 5 days before the departure date at $70 per person.
it was said that we have to reach the meeting point, which was at the 168 coffee shop just right opposite Subordinate Courts, at 6am. and why of all places, it must be somewhere near our workplace =/
anyway, we waited the travel bus for like 30 minutes to arrive, boarded the bus and with the 4 of us, there's a total 37 of us who would be going for this trip =) a female tour guide was introduced to us too.

Theme of the day: Checkered Shirt + black tanktop xD

travel bus..

on the bus, and off we go

soooo cute xD

toilet @ Woodlands Checkpoint lol
pass through 2 checkpoints, and finally we do not have to go up and down the bus so many time just to get our passport stamped. first stop, we'll be heading to Ah Keong fishball noodle house for breakfast at Johor Bahru. unfortunately, we could not find any seats for ourselves, so we decided to have our breakfast at the next door Roti Prata shop instead

Ah Keong Fishball Noodle House

Sinar Sentosa Restoran - Roti Prata shophouse
i ordered 1 Roti Prata Plain and 1 Roti Prati with egg plus a glass of Ice Milo, everything @ RM5.00, and i regretted ordering so much. i couldn't finish my 2 pieces of Roti Prata, and i forced it down my stomach, making me felt so bloated after that. anyway, Ting Yu ordered Roti Prata with Banana, so special. first time seeing that as well xD

our breakfast.
anyway, the tour guide started to press us to hurry up to board the bus as we were the last few, and seems like everyone was waiting for us. we felt kind of bad to let the rest wait for us, so we ate and drank and paid everything in x3 speed, and ran like mad back to the bus, only to find that we were actually not the last one, there were still people later than us. damn that tour guide!!!
second stop was to the Yee Siang Confectionery Shop to purchase their local product. we went in and turned one round, nothing caught our eyes, and so we went back outside to wait for the rest of the people.
third stop, we were brought to Galeri Coklat: Cocoa Rich, some chocolate gallery. they have all kinds of chocolate, some we never even seen or taste before.
they even have chocolate talk at the entrance point, introducing to us the process of chocolate?! hmm, not too sure what's the talk about because we totally ignored it and wandered around the place ourselves =P

Promotion Card given to each of us before entering.

before entering..
and Ting Yu was actually inside the glass door =D

The making of chocolate and The Talks!

free chocolate drink for us to sample

different types of chocolate xD

sampling chocolate

the place looks quite grand actually

SSG @ Cocoa Rich

the only thing i bought there.
Hot Chocolate Powder @ RM10.00
fourth stop, we'll be going to Historical Museum at Kota Tinggi, and it's a rather long journey to get there. yay, so happy to hear that it would be a long jouney there, finally can switch on mp3 player and catch some sleep on the bus. most importantly, i want to block my ear from the tour guide's irritating voice =S
reached the museum 1 hour later, and it was actually drizzling... anyway, it was a boring museum to me, i can't wait to get out of the place lol... and no phototaking was allowed inside the museum. so we only have picture outside the museum xD

SSG @ Kota Tinggi Historical Museum
fifth stop, set off to the 180 acres Tropical Fruitland, Desaru Fruit Farm, which was awarded the "Best Agro-Tourism Site" in Malaysia 2006.
the moment we alighted from the bus, we were all warmly greeted and welcomed by the guide who will be guiding us throughout the whole fruit farm.

Strictly No Picking

the fat fat guide who brought us around the fruit farm xD

super huge Jackfruit
bigger than our head O_o

towards Passion Fruit Trail..

some of the fruits that we saw there..

the bananas...
and it was as tall as us =S

BEES!!!
we ended our fruit farm tour after walking for 40 minutes, and proceeded to their Mini Zoo which was just beside the fruit farm. the time given was so short, we don't even have time to see finish everything in the mini zoo, and was pressed and nagged and rushed and niam-ed by our stupid tour guide.
she kept rushing all of us, and kept saying that we will be late for lunch, dah dah dah.. i think she was hungry lah, wth!

Mini Zoo

rabbits so cute xD

carrying rabbits xD

Kambing Goat

Goats!!!
we only managed to see rabbits and goats, and were already rushed to go back up to the bus. there's still so many animals inside the zoo, but no choice, we got a super PUNCTUAL tour guide, we must leave by this time means this time. no argue!! shit her!!!

Good Bye!!~
sixth stop, time for lunch!! we had our Buffet Lunch and Fruit Fiesta at Desaru Fruit Farm. so many varieties of fruits, but i only like honey dew. and they don't have those my favourite fruit like mango!!
i went to take fruits first, and just when i finished taking the fruits and wanted to go ahead with the buffet lunch, the lunch in the tray was like left with so little. people were really FAST ah?! typical kiasu-ness. luckily i don't eat much =)

Desaru Fruit Farm
Buffet Lunch & Fruit Fiesta!!~

pineapple stickers to allow us in for the buffet

Buffet Lunch...

& Fruit Fiesta!!~

it's PRAWNS, oh my god!!
whole tray of it!!

took some
kueh as well
kueh and fruits that we took.

OUR LUNCH!!

this set is mine xD
and we were actually the first few who finished the lunch, and so we wandered off by ourselves to the mini mart to shop around, we bought those potato chips that either did not sell, or no longer selling in Singapre already. nothing much to sell there =/
Cottage Fries no longer be found in Singapore..
anyway, after that the tour guide came looking for us frantically. she thought we went missing or what, and the moment she saw us, she came and nagged at us for wandering off by ourselves...
and then brought us in to a room and sit-in through an Educational Bee Keeping Management Talk. kind of bored to me, and the best part was, there's wi-fi inside the room, immediately connected my phone and went online to kill boredom!!!

the guide giving an educational talk

@ Kota Tinggi

sampling raw honey
and obviously the next part was to hard-sell their honey, scammed tourists money LOL. as for us, we left the room out and waited for the rest.
seventh stop, towards The Ostrich Farm.. oh yeah, another one hour bus ride, time to stuff earphone and sleep on the bus. anyway, they played some oldies english song on the bus, and they actually blasted the song.
i was awake by the super horrible loudness of the song a few times during my sleep, and i have no choice but to increase my mp3 volume in order to cover their song. it was so hard o get back to sleep due to the overly loudness. damn it!!~
finally reached Ostrich Farm after 50 minutes, and it was drizzling already. so worried for our fireflies tour at night if the rain persists =/

Welcome to Ostrich Farm

huge Cassowary!
and immediately, we were introduced by the person-in-charge there, and he actually showed us the process on how to crack an ostrich egg.. it's totally different from chicken egg because ostrich egg is far more bigger and thicker than chicken egg. it's 24 times a hen egg.
Ostrich egg got a super thick and tough shell that it actually required tools to break it open. a super simplified version of the process, the person got to knock, then drill, then poke, and then lastly poured the eggs white & yolk out.

egg cracking process

one ostrich egg = half pail. omg!!!

look at all the tools xD

huge ostrich eggs!

the empty egg shell does have some use..
it can be made into a lamp =)

young ostrich!!

so many of them..

Ostrich satay/burger/teppanyaki
and they actually pasted the Ostrich Satay/Burger/Teppanyaki menu next to where those ostrich was. imagine those Ostrich "read" the menu everyday, thinking when will be their turn to be made into an Ostrich Satay =/
and next, we proceeded out to see more Ostrich..
and it looked so big already

empty ostrich shell that were made into beautiful lamp
we made our way out to where the Ostrich food was selling at, and we each ordered 1 stick of Ostrich Satay at RM1.50 to try and then we also ordered Ostrich Omelette at RM8.00 to share.

the menu!!

our Ostrich Satay & Ostrich Omelette
with satay xD
our Ostrich Satay arrived first, and it tasted no different to other chicken satay or pork satay?! and while waiting for our Ostrich Omelette to arrive, our tour guide appeared with her favourite line "we have to go already, we are late for dinner, quick quick, faster, don't eat already" like wtf!! we ordered already loh!!!
damn pissed off wit her. all thanks to her, we cannot even slowly enjoy our Ostrich Omelette. once our omelette arrived, the 4 of us just stuffed it into our mouth and swallowed it down. no time to even differentiate the taste between ostrich egg and chicken egg..
and you know how hot the egg was, just fried out one, and it's burning, pipping hot!!! and we have to stuffed everything into our mouth.
shit her!! firstly, she urged us to for lunch, and now she was rushing us for dinner. i think she really must be damn hungry lah.. LOL!~

bye to ostrich farm
and off we ran up to our bus. eighth stop before dinner, stopped by at Se Yuan Bakery Food Supply, selling their local product again, not interested at all, but i still went in to see see, look lookm before making our way out and walked to our Seafood Restaurant for dinner.

@ Se yuan Bakery Food Supply
the distance to the restaurent wasn't that long, just a short 10 minutes walk from where we were to reach our nineth stop, You Kees Restaurant. so looking forward for our seafood dinner, especially the baby lobster we had been anticipating for, omg!!

You Kees Restaurant

look more like some
zi char stall in Singapore. lol.
pretty delicious 9 dishes plus 1 dessert. and i did not finish my bowl of rice, i think i only took 2 to 3 bites of rice and i gave up the whole bowl =X

our dinner dishes!!

love lobster!!
BURP!! after dinner, proceed on with our tenth stop, the last and final stop, the main purpose for this trip was actually this last and final stop: the fireflies tour!!!~
an extremely long 1 hour 30 minutes ride, continued our sleep on the bus, enduring the super loud song that they played, lol.
reached Fireflies River Cruise at around 6.30pm, and we were immediately bitten by some mosquitoes there. damn, i hate mosquitoes!! went for toilet break before waiting for the sky to turn dark.

the ulu toilet
does it remind u of some horror show toilet?! lol

river cruise.

SSG @ Fireflies River Cruise
since we have to wait until sun to set, and the sky to turn completely dark, so we mind as well made full use of the time to spam photos!!
well, enough of it. went back to the waiting area, and the person-in-charge actually set up stall to sell some tea egg, kueh and biscuit. i'm curious and went to take a look with Ting Yu. and we bought a packet of buscuit back, while Ginnette and Xue Ni each got themselves a tea egg xD

looking.. buying..

wooshh!~

life jacket on...
and the tour guide actually nagged at us for taking this photo because i think she's rushing for time!!! lol
maybe to her, we took this photo can actually delay the time we board the boat, delay the setting off time, delay the time we coming back, and in another word, we will be delaying her precious time. haha. no wonder she's so impatient!!! i bet if i got her as my alarm clock, i won't be late for work in future =D

on the boat, setting off.

bright sky.
slowly turning dark...
anyway, the fireflies viewing was awesome. and they actually crowd around trees, which made it looked like a christmas tree. so tiny!!~ my first time seeing fireflies, omg!! xD
the boat tour was like around 20-30 minutes and then back to the bus and off we go to the checkpoint, back to Singapore!!!
A TIRING DAY FOR ME!!! because it's like an amazing race, rushing for time.. but anyway, a wonderful trip with my SSG members!!
