Sundown Marathon 2012
seriously, a major disappointment for this run. disappointed not on Sundown, but on myself who did not complete the run.
for once, i finally brought up the courage the join the 42km full marathon, and yet i am unable to finish it. yes this was the first time that i am unable to complete the run. my first 42km, my first time going back empty-handed. suddenly felt so lost =/

dinner at Cafe Cartel before the run.

and bumped into long-time-no-see ex GV friends
Kelvin and Peng Hong!!

wheeeee.. i missed them so much!
and yea, after that we made our way to the starting point at Nicoll Highway. our run will be starting at 12.30am, but there's too crowded that we decided to wait till the crowd is gone before we head over to the starting point.
yes, we waited and delayed till almost like 1am before we started our long night run.

the surroundings

our running bib
before we start...
and yeahh, finally we decided to start at around 1am.the slow and quiet night breeze, the calm surroundings, no nice scenery to see because it's night time. but the it's a familiar Marina running route. everything is going on smoothly until we reached the Marina Barrage area.
天有不测之风云. dark clouds, strong wind, heavy rain, lightning strike, thunder storm. we got stucked and quickly ran to the nearest bus stop at Marina Barrage to seek shelter. it's a very sudden rain, and everyone was stucked and squeezed together in the small little bus stop.
alot decided to stop and wait for the rain to stop, but there's still some who decided to go on in such horrible weather. kudos to them, but really.... it was very dangerous!

sms received from the organiser.
we thought the rain would stop, but it did not. we were stucked at the bus stop for hours since 3am. we waited and waited, the rain never stop. instead, it got heavier and heavier. we were all shivering with cold, and what's worse someone suddenly fainted. it's like a fits attack or what i do not know. it's pretty scary when his eyes suddenly rolled up.
the road marshals stationed at the bus stop helped to call first-aider, but we waited for one hours plus. no one came. people started complaining already, what took the first-aider so long? we waited until the man regain consciousness already and then, after not long that man fainted for the second times! like what the hell, where is the first-aider? in the end, someone called the ambulance instead of waiting for the organiser to take action.
and the most horrible things are... the booklet said the road will opened after 4am, but then the workers are already removing those road barriers at around 3.20am and cars were already allowed to move freely in.
we see big trucks, big lorries, cars, motorbikes. it's like wth?! its equivalent to telling us that all of us GOOD GAME already. time to pack up, go home and sleep. that's the end to all of us! no need to run anymore.
soon, we see the bus stop getting lesser and lesser people. people either called for cab, or called their parent to drive in and drove them home. we waited and waited for the bus to come in and fetch us back since there's no way we can continue.
finally after 2.5 hours, at around 5.30am. the bus came in the end. and that young teenage boy inside the bus was like saying to us, "are you all the participants who give up on the run?" the rest of the participants at the bus stop was like, "WHAT?! do we have a choice? you guys reopened the road way before the said time and you said we gave up?!".
like what? he still can say, "the run is still on, you guys can continue to run if you want". HEY BOY, you want us to run with trucks and lorries driving beside us and then to end our life like that?" if we are over at east coast park then i got nothing to say. but we are still like 4km of road route to clear before we are safe from the vehicles!
well, boarded the bus and they fetched us back to Nicoll Highway to collect our bags. looks like there's alot of us unable to complete the race. walked across the super muddy and full of trap grass patch to collect our bags, and my whole feet submerged fully inside one of the trap hole. like yucks, my poor yellow shoes!!!!!! go home have to scrub it clean clean =/

sighh, the fully drenched look.
well, in the end we got nothing. no medal, no finisher tee! NOTHING! we cleared at least one third of the run at 14km and then poof.. everything gone! we should have run in the rain..... hahaha bullshit lah us, say so much but we did not. LOL.. one day...one day i will complete 42km!! that day will come!

the incomplete Sundown!
this year is gonna be a very sporty and active year with the CDJ's Cup running round the months with different kinds of sports, competing across division in the Subordinate Courts.
Frustal Soccer got a head start in April 2012, which i did not participate in it because i can't play soccer haha. i don't wanna get whack by the ball. and initially Badminton tournament should be following up next in May, but due to the Hougang election, it was delayed till July, so Cross-Country got pushed forward to May instead.
the Inter-Division Cross-Country was held on a Friday afternoon, and yes, we got an excuse to be out ready by 5pm. you know, it's pretty hard to organise a running event, we need to plan the route, we need manpower to involve in the usher point, water point, we need to activate ambulance to standby too. seriously, most of the staffs are involve that evening.
the preparation..
the road Marshal..
the water point marshal, ready to head off to the 2.5km checkpoint by lorry
introducing my Finance male runners, Aston and Mark
representing Division: CCSD
me and Aston
waiting to start off.
yeah. our CCSD Division
Khai Ling, the overall in-charge of the Sports Committee,
giving a safety precaution speech before we start
and... poof!
CHOING AHHHH
and the running route is super power, just the beginning only, we have to overcome that deadly bridge. and by the time we climbed over, already almost out of breath. the route is from SubCt to Floating platform and u-turn back , and they have so many up and down slopes. such a killer!
and i was so looking forward to the one and only one water point over at the u-turn point, which was around 2.5km. but by the time i reached there, no water point was set up at all. in the end, ran back disappointed. WHERE IS MY WATER?! dehydrating already!
and yea by the way, while running on my way back, i saw a few veteran subct runners. really have the sportsmanship, although they are slow, and can't catch up with the youngs, but they still struggle to reach the u-turn point and back to Subct. big claps to them!!
yes, finally i'm back!
didn't manage to win any hahaha
competitors too strong already. but i managed to come back in one piece
yeahh, quickly grabbed a can of 100 plus and drink. i was complaining to Bala how come there was no water point at all, and hilariously, he said that because we the runners reached there even earlier than the water point Marshal. LOL. they were in the lorry, and was caught in a jam while on the way there. such a joke! haha
but then, got to make some noise for the Men and Woman under 35 category. especially for the Men under 35 category, the top 3 was from our CCSD division. woohoo!!!
Women under 35 category
1st: Phebe (Chinese Interpreter)
CCSD Division
Men under 35 category
1st: Faizal (Malay Interpreter)
CCSD Division
Men under 35 category
2nd: Aston (Finance)
CCSD Division
Men under 35 category
3rd: Mark (Finance)
CCSD Division
and let's congrats all the winners
group photo
runners and supporters from CCSD Division.
anyway, the overall winner for this Cross-Country was actually the Civil Division. we lost because we totally have no runners to represent both the male and female veteran category. so we scored zero for that 2 categories which pulled our overall score down.
awww, such a waste. anyway, it's okay, we still have a few more tournaments to add on to the scores hahah. next up, Badminton tournament in July. whee whee!
i didn't expect the Sports Committee to come up with printed CDJ's Cup towel
and DIY running bib.
so cute. awesomely great efforts put in by the Sports Committee!
thumb up!

it has been such a long time since we last went to East Coast Park for cycling, yeah this time round we finally found a free and vacant Saturday when most of us are free, and yea it's a long-time-no-see-Edmund-day as well. haha. it's a free and book out Saturday for him =D

well, this time round we did not go for a single bike, or a roller blade. we went for a woohoo Family Bike, that was... well, just nice enough for 6 people. we went ahead to rent it for $70 for 3 hours, that was kind of expensive huh, but shared among the 6 of us should be okay lah huh.
yeah, the 6 of us!!!

and yeah, so the 6 of us started our 2 hours journey on this yellow Family Bike. there's only 4 pedals, so only 4 people will be pedalling and 2 would be sitting inside shaking legs. haha. and super no shame, Edmund happened to one of the two who were sitting and allowing 4 girls to pedal their legs off to get that bike moving. and he... the only man on the bike, but he's sitting down enjoying the wind, no wonder everyone who cycled past us would take a peek inside and then started "smiling" at Edmund. hahaha. more like mocking at him duh! LOL.
anyway, the bike is seriously SLOW! 4 people pedalling but the bike is moving way too slow lah deh. it's so much difficult then a single bike, and it's so much tiring to pedal.
starting off soon loh!!
after cycling for an hour plus, we decided to stop by some random place and rest. yeah finally can stopped and rest our legs, and also.... for some photos taking wahahahah.
i think this is a pretty cool shot =D
JUMP SHOT!!
hold hand and jumpppp
looks like....
那些年,我们一起去 East Coast Park!!
and yes, back on track. time to cycle back..
a change of position, Ting Yu's turn to cycle
well, 3 hours of cycling is tiring, but we shared the burden together hahaha. it's a way of bonding huh! the journey back is horrible especially when the sun glaring at us, hot like mad.
still, we managed to get back in time, returned the bike and then thinking of our next location to have our dinner. Ting Yu suggested to go Asia Square, somewhere at Marina area, to have pizza at Extravirgin Pizza. yeah, she has got $30 voucher to dine in there.
we took 196 and alighted at Lao Pat Sat area and started hunting for the Asia Square, looking through map on iphone and ended up merry-go-round there. in the end, with Ginnette's help, we finally managed to find the place. it was actually very near the bus stop where we alighted, i don't know how we ended up walking extra distance, merry-go-round the place.
YO, at Extravirgin Pizza...
waiting to be served!
Ham and Mushroom Pizza
Spotted Pig Pizza
MUNCH TIME
and yah, some comical moment, when the bill was sent to us, and Ting Yu was digging her purse for the voucher. and then suddenly she got this shocked look on her face. i thought like what?! voucher expired huh?
and then she went from a shock... and followed by a smile. and she was like, "i got $40 voucher, not $30!!" *BIG SMILE* heh heh heh. total bill was only $52. since Ting Yu forked out all her vouchers, the remaining $12 was shared among the 5 of us, and we insist Ting Yu not to pay anymore =D nice huh hahah
woohoo, $40 lah girl.
last photo before we went off..
and a Polaroid one ^^
