SHINE Dance Showcase 2010 @ RWS

29th May 2010 - Saturday

the day has finally arrived! the day that we had been practising hard for, our flashmob dance performance xD. an initial recruitment drive of 300 flashmobbers, but due to overwhelming response, we have more than 300 flashmobbers participating!

and the 300++ of us, who have been undergoing only 5 training sessions, were finally here for the SHINE Dance Showcase 2010 @ Resorts World Sentosa - in Celebration of Youth Excellence!

the People's Association Youth Movement (PAYM) presented their 14th Biennial Youth Awards, SHINE! PAYM Awards & Central Youth Council Installation Ceremony 2010.

and our flashmob dance will be their Special Segment for the award ceremony xD

well, enough of my introduction..... and before we went over to RWS, Edmund, Ginnette, Xue Ni and me meet up at Vivo City first at 11.30am. they had breakfast at McDonald's and then we went up to Daiso as Edmund needed to get himself a tie to suit his image for tonight xD

walked around Vivo City as the time was still early, and Xue Ni spent a bomb in gachapons at Toys' R Us. and i took a picture with Toy Story xD.

we have to reach the Compass Ballroom by 1.30pm. and so, we quickly made our way there at 12.45pm, took the RWS8 bus over to Resort World Sentosa, we alighted somewhere near the Casino, and then we slowly hunt our way to the Hard Rock Hotel.

well, i believe one day i will get myself a ticket and explore the whole Universal Studios!!!

and most importantly, we have to find out exactly where is the Hard Rock Hotel?! we looked through the map, and asked the information counter staff for direction...

and finally, after walking quite a long distance, we found the sign directing the Hard Rock Hotel to us..

anyway, the ballroom was not opened yet, so we loitered outside and exploring the place.. the place looked very grand, very luxuious, very posh!!!

while waiting for the door to open and other flashmobbers to arrive. we grabbed hold of the chance and took photos!!

and the door was opened and ready for entry. haha. seriously, the lighting inside was terrible. we don't really like the yellow lighting inside, it made the whole entire place so yellowish. our photos all turned out to be so yellowish =S

Flashmobbers.

anyway, Xue Ni and me were desperately looking for some water, especially COLD one the moment we stepped in. after walking and finding the Hard Rock Hotel for such a long time, in such a super hot weather, both of us were like going to dehydrate any moment. WE NEED WATER!!

we immediately went to grab water when the water dispenser thingy was set up at the table. and for once, plain water tasted so heavenly!!!!

and soon... Terrence, our dance instructor came with his favourite shouting of "HUNKS AND BABES!" he's a very nice and funny person with great sense of humour. and he never failed to joke around when he talks! haha

and anyway, he will be bringing us over to where the award ceremony will be held later. and in the meantime, he said he will played the 3 combined songs over and over in repeated mode until we're scared of it. and we have to rehearse the dance steps over and over again =/

and after we had practised enough, we were brought over to where the PAYM Awards and CYC Installation Ceremony will be held later. because all along we have been dancing at other place and this was considered our first time stepping into the actual performing place, so Terrence will be assigning on our standing position, telling us how, when and where to stand.

and so, after arranging on where and how to stand, we finally get a full-run of our dance performance. lol. at the atcual scene xD!!!

and after having 2 to 3 full run of the dance, we were being chased away by the people there, as we were actually delaying their preparation work =/

and so we went back to the so-call backstage, and time to chiong to the toilet and get our proper dressing done to suit the theme GLAMOROUS, and also have our make-up put on!!

the toilet was seriously filled with people, and Xue Ni was the most kiasu one as she was the first to chop the handicap toilet. lol. and so Ginnette and me followed in after we got dress, and started getting busy inside the handicap toilet (cos' handicap toilet was big xD).

the lights inside was too dark that we went outside to put make-up, those people walking past was laughing at us loh =\. and due to my super-serious-sun-burnt skin that i got it from Krabi, the more foundation i put, the more i'm rubbing off my skin. like wth!!!!

had no choice, but to bear with it.. and soon, we're DONE!! we went back to the Performers' Holding Area to look for Edmund.. anyway, the lighting outside the hall was much more better!!

we were taking picture half way, and suddenly a lady came to us and kept talking to us. she asked us to teach her how to camwhore. lol. and soooo, we ended up taking picture together with her as well.

with Edmund's primary school friend, Alicia, whom he met back during our dance training.

and i also met back my primary school friend, Verena.

she shifted house during Primary 2 and i have never met her since then.

after 14 years, and i still recognised her xD

and around 6.20pm like that, we were being sent over to the Awards Ceremony hall batch by batch. this time round we were entering through the main door and not through the sneaky back door anymore.

and after we were in, we have to act like we were part of the guests. pretending to be those invited guests or awards winner, and then mingle around with one another.

anyway, just right after the arrivals of the Guest-Of-Honours and VIPs, and after Terrence, who pretended to be a waiter, served his first glass of drink. the music started and we really surprised all the guests, when parts of the people started dancing.

and because we were splitted into Group A to D earlier on, so different group will be joining into the dance in the middle of the dance. Group A started dancing first, so the rest of the group, together with all the guests, will be pretending watching them dance. and the funny part was, Group B, who was initially watching the dance pretending to be surprise by it, suddenly joined into the dance as well.. and the same goes to Group C & D.

we truly took them by surprise, with our Surprise Segment.

and so our flashmob ended in a blast!! totally full of satisfaction and so proud of ourselves. and Terrence came back to give his thank-you speech, but the speech ended up to be in cantonese imitating those TVB stars giving their thank-you speech. lol. it was so funny lah.
