Chinese New Year Day 2
Written at Friday, February 04, 2011 | back to top

大年初二
::Grandma house, family gathering::

day 2 of Chinese New Year is always spent at my grandmother's house of my father's side. we left our house quite late at around 4pm plus to Jurong West, and looked like we only visit my grandma house once a year.

we were sort of one of the last few families to arrive. haha. the moment we stepped in, all were busy greeting happy new year to all the long-time-no-see relatives. haha. some were busy distributing oranges, some were busy giving out hongbao, and we, the young generation, were busy receiving hongbao from them xD

and as usual, we have to wait for our buffet to arrive. but this year's buffet came pretty early, at least we do not need to starve ourselves while waiting. they came fast, set up everything fast as well. pretty efficient. haha

Neo Garden Catering.

nicely set up

buffet dinner

yu-sheng

luckily there's a huge space just right outside the corridor that can have 10 to 20 people to crowd around there. before the start of the dinner, the adults were busy setting up and prepare for the lo-hei.

everyone volunteered to help

add and sprinkle and pour all the ingredients

1...2...3....

LO HEI-ing
HUAT AH!!~

the aftermath of the lo-hei
messy yu-sheng

anyway, i'm pretty noob. i don't know how to appreciate yu-sheng. the thing i ate was the crispy keropok. haha. that's the only things i dug for while eating yu-sheng. haha.

and as for the buffet food. hah, i found it was the best buffer i ever had for this year. love the mee, the prawn, the fish and the scallop. and they have wonderful curry too xD

my cousin, Hui Ping, and her boyfriend xD

with our little cousin, Gerald.
the noisy little kid.

poor dog.
it was trained not to leave the house at all...

haha. and this was the first time we emptied the whole tray of foods. no leftover foods at all. haha. sad, nothing to dapao back home. haha

time to proceed back into the house and adults would be starting their mini gambling den. typical games during Chinese New Year. i tried 1 round, but lost in the end. not my type of games, and i don;'t have that much money to lose. lol. so forget it and let the adults continued.

poker cards

the gamblers lol.

the little devil playing with both my brothers

Gerald and my brother

have to admit, this little devil is making tooooooo much noise. haha. 80% of the noise pollution came solely from him hahaha. and the other 20% came from the screaming of the gamblers. lol.

one of my favourite aunts, love her xD...
my father's second elder sister

my aunt and Gerald.

brother and the dog

pretty cousin and me xD

the last round of the game before everyone went home. and yes.. the last round is normalluy not the last. the last round was last called for so many times until they finally decided to really ends everything off.

last round

when there's winners, there's bound to be losers. haha. but that's the atmosphere to have during Chinese New Year. and it's only like once in a year, so it's okay. as long as everyone is happy. it's some kind of family bonding we only have once in a year. so see you people again, next year xD

新年快乐
