Countdown to 2011
Written at Saturday, January 01, 2011 | back to top

HAPPY NEW YEAR, 2011.

it was the last day of 2010, going to countdown later, Ginnette, Lisa and me were deployed for afternoon shift duty, while Shalee was lucky to get the morning shift.

the whole place looked very dead during public holiday eve. the whole entire day don't even know got 10 publics anot, lol. and we have to endure to end of shift at 5.30pm. haha.

anyway, thanks Yi Yang for giving me 2 slices of pizza. hahaha. he saw me looking hungrily at the vending machine, so he donated his 2 slices of pizza to me. lol. he got such a peaceful times at court 26. how nice!~

immediate after work, Ginnette and me went to change off to shorts as we do not want to wear the long office pant to countdown. definitely hot like mad. haha and then we went over to Family Court to look for Lisa. and together we took train to Raffles Place and meet Shalee.

we were supposed to meet up with Audrey and Daphne as well for dinner, but both of them last minute have something on, so not joining us for dinner. and so, only the 4 of us heading over to Lau Pa Sat for a big feast.

Lau Pau Sat Festive Market

the moment we stepped into the market, we were pestered by this malay hawker who kept showing us their food menu, wanting us to buy from them. we don't really feel like buying from them, so we stood up, walked away, thinking of changing seats, but they were following us behind. we tried lots of ways to shake them off, but none was successful.

we attempted last resort, walked inside Wendy's and pretended we wanted to dine in there, and they finally walked off. we waited awhile, before heading outside again, and we immediately placed our order to a chinese hawker. haha.

we really ordered a table of foods: Chicken Wing, Stingray, Claypot Toufu, Satay, Xiao Long Bao and Fried Oyster with Egg. everything was like less than $50.

BIG FEAST

it's DINNER time..

we enjoyed feasting ourselves with so much food, haha. and whatever we couldn't finished, we threw it to Lisa to help us eat. like nice, so many nice and delicious foods to eat. Lisa was the only person who eat the whole plate of oysters, because Ginnette, Shalee and me only eat the egg and flour. we don't like oysters =S

after dinner, Daphne arrived finally. we made our way to Marina Bay at around 8pm plus, to chop good seat for countdown later on. although it was 4 hours early, but the place was already filled with so many people.

lots of people, lots of security, lots of police, lots of bangalas too =S

Police booth!

the spot light which shine directly towards us.
and all the "wish balls" scattered the whole river.

Marina Bay got the best night scenery

we found ourselves one nice spot, and started stonning down there, waiting for 12am. as the time got nearer and nearer to 12am, the crowd seems to be increasing in X3 speed. from there's a path to walk, to totally no path to walk. from less crowd to people squeeze people. when you stand up, you can only see heads, the ground could not be spotted at all, the crowd squeezed until so horrible.

all of a sudden, we saw alot bangalas standing or sitting behind us. not one or two, but a sea of bangalas. lol. we started to worry how is Audrey going to look for us? even if she managed to get out location, i don't think she can even squeeze herself in, omg.

O_O''' BANGALAS!~

sitting down since 8pm

belated Christmas present from Audrey and Daphne..

look who's behind us =D

cheers!~

group photo... with bangalas xD

it was around 10pm plus when Audrey finally bear to leave her friends, and come to join us for countdown. Daphne had such a hard time telling her our exact location, but the chances of her manage to find us was like zero.

Marina is so big, and imagine there's like 300,000 people crowded at Marina. out of the 300,000, she has to find just the 5 of us. the chances of her to find us was 0.00167%. kind of IMPOSSIBLE to us!!~

we tried lots of ways to tell Audrey our exact location, Lisa even go online through her iphone to google map our location, took a picture, upload it into facebook and ask Audrey to go see. but the quality Lisa take until was so horrible that Audrey don't even know what the hell it was. lol.

google map

no choice, but to continue to communicate through phone. but due to heavy network traffic and no service found, my M1 phone was the only surviving one to contact with Audrey xD

and we kept telling Audrey we were opposite which building, beside what building, etc. the time kept running, we have been trying to tell Audrey where we were since 10pm, and it was already 11.45pm and Audrey has yet to find us.

got high feeling she wonldn't be able to find us, so we just tell her to stay where she was and countdown over there by herself. lol.

and then when it was near to 12am, people started to stand up, everyone from behind started to push and move themselves in, and we were forced to stand up as well. haha. anyway, the pathway can be seen again from behind because everyone were squeezing themselves forward.

and it was a real miracle because Audrey managed to find us and squeezed herself in... just a few minutes before 12am.

yay. Girls reunited!! hahaha

and here comes the AWESOME FIREWORKS @ Marina Bay!!!!
thanks Nette for all the awesome fireworks shot!!!

the first fireworks

final EXPLOSION!!!~

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL MY FRIENDS!!

the aftermath of the fireworks...
SMOKY SKY

happy 2011 xD

look at all the rubbish by those inconsiderate people

wooh!~ after the crowd dispersed, we managed to meet up with Klevin, he wasn't as lucky as Audrey who managed to find us, so he can only stood at one side and watched the fireworks all by himself. lol.

2011 GROUP PHOTO

time to leave the place at around 12.30am, and there's very very serious human traffic up ahead. imagine we have to squeezed together withh all 300,000 over people. lol. the crowd jammed the whole road, making those vehicles jammed as well, marvellous xD.

human traffic

anyway, we walked alot of places just to look for toilet. most of us have hold on to our pee for like 4 hours, and it's really to the extreme already. but then we had difficulty looking for the toilet, looked like there's no toilet nearby.

we walked from Marina Bay to Lao Pa Sat to Shenton Way and then we finally found a public toilet at some random food court. we just made full use of the food court table and chairs, sat down there to enjoy the chocolate cake that Klevin brought along for us.

sweet and thick choclate..
half pieces is enough.. too sweet for my liking =D

and then we realised Audrey, Daphne, Ginnette and me have the same kind of dressing xD like so cool!~

same dress code xD

we left the place at around 2am, and walked our way back to Chinatown. looked like the extended time for bus was over, and we have no choice but to take cab home. and here's the arrangement for cab, Audrey & Daphne one cab, Lisa and Klevin one cab, Ginnette, Shalee & me one cab. and so half way through, teh 4 of them took cab and left, while the 3 of us actually made our way back to Lucky Chinatown McDonald's.

and we were damn lucky that Wen Jie just ended his EOS work at GV, Ginnette called him and he purposely took cab down to Chinatown and fetched us home. how nice of him, thanks Wen Jie xD

the 3 of us waiting at Lucky Chinatown Mac.

we waited around 2.40am for his cab, and reached home at around 2.53am.

what an awesome, fabulous, marvellous and fantastic countdown with my girls. we spent our last 2010 and first 2011 together. the 8 hours of hanging out together, the big feast at Lao Pa Sat, the 4 hours of waiting plus squeezing with bangalas, the terrible hunts for toilet, the human traffic we squeezed in and the 8 minutes of fireworks. that's a great time hanging out with them.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!
