Astro Retreat @ Pulau Ubin

18th December 2010 - Saturday

last minute being asked to go Pulau Ubin for some Astronomy event. that was like just one day before the setting off date. lol. and since i have nothing to do on that day, i agreed to tag along xD.

met up with Ginnette first and we took train down to Tampines. we shop around Tampines Mall while waiting for Joshua to come. anyway, i didn't know Tampines is such a popular places, it was crowded with alot of people, so hard to squeeze through the mountain of people lol.

first aim was to find the Pokémon Christmas Tree which was located at Tampines Mall.

anyway, Moo informed us beforehand that we should have some light dinner before going to Pulau Ubin because the bbq foods they catered were limited. we chose to eat at KFC, Shrooms Burger Meal =) small and just nice for us. haha

after dinner, we have to quickly get to the bus interchange and took bus 29 to Changi Point Ferry Terminal, we have to get to Pulau Ubin fast as the sky tend to dark there faster than in Singapore.

we sat down at the waiting area as the bumboat will only depart when there are 12 passengers. and it's pretty hard to get 12 passengers at around 6pm because people were all coming back, not many will be going there besides those people who lived down there, or people going there camping, like us xD.

luckily, we managed to get 12 passengers up on the bumboat with us, so we only need to pay $2.50 for the ride.

but ended up not using the toilet because it looked very yucky inside.

after a long waiting time, it's time to board the boat. yay, it's a short and fast ride anyway.

Jin Peng and Moo came to fetch us as they checked in here earlier on with their Astronomy friends. afterall, it was their Astro event xD. haha

time to rent a bike for overnight. we have to cycle our way in to the chalet as it was pretty far inside. i doubt we can reach there by walking, so bicycle renting is a must!

anyway, due to our heights, we were only given a normal smaller bike. it looked as if like a children bike to Moo they all. lol. no choice, we couldn't reach the ground if they gave us a huge bike. lol!~

and so, the 5 of us cycled in the dark back to the chalet. the sky turned dark extremely fast in Ubin which i have no idea why. no street lamps around to guide our way. we have to cycle in the dark.

and Jin Peng was nagging to us that with the kind of speed we were going, we might take forever to reach the chalet. lol.

i felt so awkward when i first stepped in. i don't know everybody except for the main organiser, Jin Peng. lol. don't really know who the rest, so we only stick to our own clique =X anyway, we are not anti-social =D hahaha. we need time to digest one another xD

not long later, the guys went out to prepare for bbq. we joined them shortly after, Jin Peng and friends were already starting bbq-ing the foods. not helping them at all, we just sat down there and waited for the foods to be served =X

Joshua even brought along his packet of marshmallow to share with all of us.

while the rest was still busy bbq-ing, the 4 of us started spamming photos at one corner. totally into our own world. lol.

after that, we went back to our chalet. and it got pretty boring down there as we do not bring anything to play there. besides the laptop that i brought along, basically the 4 of us had nothing to do at all.

and we were not close to the rest of the people, so in the end, we decided to all go and sleep. and the best thing was.. we got no bed to sleep at all. the bed was totally occupied by the rest. no choice, so we laid out the groundsheet which Joshua brough, and sleep on the hard and cold floor.

and the 4 of us were only given 1 pillow, no blanket at all. lol. anyway, we did fall asleep. but i was woken up by the super freezing air -con and duper loud noise from Jin Peng and company. haha. they were playing Monopoly Deal and they got super high and screamed non-stop.

somemore i'm sleeping directly opposite the air-con, and i'm freezing like mad with my feet turning ice cold. it's like transforming into a ice stick already. lol. and the hard ground sleep until my back so pain.

anyway, we woke up at 7.30am and left the place at around 8am plus. and because Moo did a group renting of bike with Jin Peng and the rest, they have to return all bike together. he asked his friend to help him returned the bike on his behalf and then he went off with us without a bicycle.

while Ginnette, Joshua and me cycled back, Moo ran his way back instead. lol. and while we went outside to wear back our shoes, i realised my shoes were infested by ants. so sway, i place my shoe near to an ant trail i guessed. i had a hard time knocking and shaking those ants out my shoes, and sweeping it off my socks =.=''

it started to drizzle when we were cycling back to the jetty. jacket, sweater, poncho all on, and off we go.. we have to cycle in a slow pace in case Moo ran out of breath and couldn't catch up with us, lol.

finally reached back and returned the bike. and since it was raining, we decided to have our breakfast first before heading back to mainland Singapore.

the food wasn't that bad, but their Xing Zhou Bee Hoon looked and tasted abit different from the usual one i had in Singapore. the Hotplate Tofu and Sweet and Sour Chicken were great xD

and after breakfast, it's time to say good bye to Pulau Ubin.

Singapore, I'm BACK!!~

on bus 29 back to Tampines and took train back home.

so so so tired after the 2 days 1 night at Ubin. lack of sleep, poor sleeping place, etc. and the best thing was... we cannot go back home and catch back our lost sleep. after we reached home, put down our bags, unpacked our things.. rest for awhile, and we have to meet out again with members of Feriae at 3.30pm.

it's like a combo. lol. meeting out 2 days continuously. haha. anyway, i shall stop here, and continue the second part of the day on my next post. whee!~ happy and excited as it was my 22nd birthday celebration with Feriae clique.
