Chingay Parade 1

yes, finally the long awaited day is here. the 4 months of hardwork and sweats we have been practising for is for today and tomorrow, the 2 days main performance.

yay, and we were given our second piece of t-shirt, our pink performance tee, just a few days ago. finally, no need to see so many blues, because everybody will be in pink today xD

anyway, after the previous experience we had during the Media Preview. this time round the make-up session is cut short. they no longer have people to help us do styling of hair, and we were instructed to style our hair on our own.

so before Ginnette and me headed over to the F1 Pit Building, we went to the toilet inside PARCO Marina Bay, a shopping mall which links to Millenia Walk and the Promenade MRT station, to have our hair styled. actually it's quite simple, we just have to tie our hair high high, and make it messy or pong pong can already. but such simple style, we took very long to do it =/

after everything is nicely done, we made our way to the F1 Pit, registered our attendance, and proceed straight to get our make-up done. anyway, as i said earlier that the make-up was cut short due to the past experience we had from Media Preview. this time round, the make-up was really a simplified version.

firstly, we got our foundation done, then blusher, then paint the 2 stripes, blue and silver, across our eyes. and we are DONE! no eyeliner, no disgusting lip gloss because it's pretty worthless. once we eat, it will be gone! haha. less than 10 minutes and we were done!

and yes, since we have like lots of time to waste, to spend, to use, etc. we have to wait till 7pm plus plus. it would definitely be a long wait, and so.. it's pictures time.

it was around 2pm plus when Ginnette and me decided to walk out to Popeyes at Singapore Flyer to have our lunch there. if not, we will be plain sitting down there for hours to wait till 7pm.

we did not feel awkward or funny or weird to go Popeyes with this kind of look, because we were very sure that most of the people will be more or less like us, the performancers for tonight Chingay event. so majority of the people having lunch there is either with funny make-up or strange outfits. it's absolutely normal!

right after our lunch, we actually took a short nap there. it's so much nicer to sleep here, than going back to the tentage and sleep in a sitting position. my back hurts, you know!!

and we were praying hard that it would not rain today, we certainly do not wish to dance in the rain for our performance. but i was awake by the water droplet sound outside, and was disappointed to see outside in such heavy rain. like what the ='/

no choice, but to pray that it would stop before 7pm. anyway, we were pretty annoyed by the group of Malays sitting around us. they were horribly making too much noise that we couldn't take it, but grabbed our bags and left the place.

since it was raining heavily, we walked around shops around Singapore Flyer.

and we really do hate to hate our shoe soaked with water, i don't mind to get wet from head to toe, but definitely not my shoes. it's the most disgusting and yucky feeling to have my feets soaked inside a wet shoes.

and we suddenly think of covered our shoes with plastic bags =D and so, we walked over to the food centre there, and Ginnette went up to one of the hawker and asked him to spare us 4 plastic bags. luckily the uncle was nice enough to give us 4. haha

and it's time to wrap our shoes up with plastic bag.

damn funny.

everyone was looking at us walking back like this. but no choice, this was the only way to have keep our shoes dry! but anyway, out shoes still got wet in the end. not totally wet, just some parts only. better than nothing, i supposed!

it was 5pm plus when we were back to the tentage, and it's pretty crowded already as compared to the little people around 2pm plus.

shortly after, the food catering arrived as well. dinner was served finally. they have to deliver those foods into the tentage in the rain, poor them.

and it was said that they will give us some surprises. yes, specially for us the participants. haha. and here it is, our Day 1 surprise...

and yes, after having our bag with us for the entire afternoon, we finally decided to dump our bags inside the Bag Deposit counter. we actually should have deposited our bags earlier on, but then once deposited, it would be rather hard to get our bags. which also means no camera, no mp3 player, no handphone with us. we would be bored to death the entire afternoon.

this was the reason why we ended up depositing our bag at the very last minute. haha.

and so now, we have no handphone, no camera with us anymore. no more pictures to take =/

and then, time to sit down and wait patiently for the time. as time passed by, we formed up to our formation, sit according to our group, row and column. and have a last minute rehearsal before we formed up outside the tentage, getting ready to move on.

LET'S DANCE!!!!

our very first time, i'm very nervous yet excited. that's freaking for sure. this time round was for real, no longer for rehearsal. all the seats at the F1 Pit Building used to be empty when we rehearsed, it's now totally ALL FILLED UP. totally looked like ants to us from far..

like wow. when we were slowly moving out, waiting for our turn to perform. the feeling of waiting was indescribable. it's like waiting for your turn to go up for oral examination. lol.

we got more and more nervous, heart was beating in full speed as we got nearer and nearer, and the cheering and screaming and clapping from the audiences got louder and louder.

well, the performance before us was the Malay Dance, so when we started hearing the Malay song being played out, all of us were fully prepared for our one and only LARGEST SEGMENT for this Chingay. our heart tends to beat even more faster when the Malay song is ending...

and POOF, it was our turn finally!!!!!! like YEAH!!!~ we danced a total of 5 minutes walking-in song and a 2 minutes main performance song. the first 5 minutes was a walk-in song, that means we have to dance and walk-in at the same time until we reached our allocated spot for our 2 minutes main dance.

the walking-in into the audiences territory was awesome, people started locking their eyes on you, camera started flashing madly at you. what we can do is just continue to do our part well, in order to have an awesome performance!

7 minutes dance ended pretty fast. and coming up next would be the grand finale. we have to run under the super big big red cloth which would be covering us, and then ran to grab 2 Kong Ming lantern for the finale part.

everything went on smoothly, the best part was definitely the fireworks part. it was the so awesome, like it was released right on top of our head. so beautiful.

and then, here comes the host - Bryan Wong, Quan Yifeng and Jean Danker. hah!~ they were right infront of us, like nice!!! like suddenly has a minute of fame, lol.

anyway, what an wonderful and tiring night. Ginnette and me quickly ran back to the tentage, waited for the people to debrief, queued up and collected our bags, and off we ran to the bus stop at Singapore Flyer to catch our last bus home. i checked from iris, and it was said that the last bus 97 will arrived at the bus stop in 2 minutes time.

and without even bother to remove our make-up, we ran dull speed all the way to the bus stop to catch the last bus. phew, at least we managed to catch it. we even removed our make-up on the bus. haha, i certainly do not wish to walk home with this kind of blur + silver face =/ lol

so, Chingay Parade Day 1 is down. Day 2 the next day. ONE MORE DAY TO GO!!! Gonna rock the F1 Pit again the next day =D Good Night!~
