Heartland Explorer II: Night Cycling
Written at Sunday, June 13, 2010 | back to top

12th June 2010 - Saturday

yay! after 3 months, Woodlands YEC finally organised a second Night Cycling event. this time round the route was extended, much more longer than the previous one.

this time round, Edmund and Joshua did not join us. so Ginnette's youngest brother and his friend replaced them and joined us on our Night Cycling team.

i'm supposed to board 963 first, Ginnette and her brother plus friends will hop up my bus at their bus stop, but my 963 was zooming toooooooo fast that they missed it and so i had to alight at NUH there to wait for their next 963 =/ *like some kind of hopping bus game =s* Lol!~

we reached Woodlands Interchange at around 9.30pm, and quickly made our way to the Woodlands CC to register. we came too late and S size of the shirt were taken, Ginnette and me each took an M size green t-shirt, but it was really too big, luckily we did bring our previous one, so we wore back and brought home the new shirt xD

greeny t-shirt

bicycles & light stick!~

the 5 cyclists for tonight =D

Ginnette and me & Ginnette's brother (Damien) and his friends.

each of us were given a bottle of water, one Energy Bar and a disposable raincoat.

rain or shine, the cycling will never cancel, so just in case of bad weather and we have to cycle in the rain!!!!

anyway, we were stucked at the CC for very long, supposed to set off at around 10pm to 11pm, but it was delayed until 12am due to the traffic outside.

we sat down on the floor waiting for time to pass, hearing people screaming for GOAL while they were watching World Cup at the CC. Damien was playing fire with Ginnette's lighter and he spoilt it =/ hahaha. and yay, finally we were ready to go at 12am!!!!

on your mark, get set, GO!!!!!!

anyway, the whole entire route was changed. totally different from the route we took previous time. but then the final ending point was still at East Coast Park.haha, we got to see different scenery at different place xD

and here was our first pit stop @ Seletar Club.

Woodlands --> Selatar Club Road. (1.10am)

@ Pitstop #1: Selatar Club Rd

we took a really short rest before continuing our journey to our next pitstop. i totally hate the up slope, and this new route have ALOT of up slope T_T. we cycled for like half an hour plus and reached our second pitstop @ Jalan Kayu to have our supper.

Woodlands --> Selatar Club Road --> Jalan Kayu. (1.45am)

Roti Prata Supper xD

the whole place was still filled with alot of people at that hour, i ordered Lime Juice and 2 pieces of Roti Prata as my supper xD.

after supper, we continued our cycling journey. the journey to our next pitsop was filled with alot alot alot up slope. Ginnette was somehow forced to go up the lorry at around Bedok area as Jin Peng said they were behind time. and he promised to let her come down to cycle after we had cycled past all the up slope.

so happy to cycle past my ex-attachment company, SSMC at Pasir Ris. i missed that place, like seriously!!! and finally we reached our third pitsop @ Pasir Ris West Plaza.

Woodlands --> Selatar Club Road --> Jalan Kayu --> Pasir Ris West Plaza.. (4.35am)

i used to come here for lunch during my attachment days xD

we rest for awhile and then continued our cycling. damn, MORE UP SLOPE ahead!!!! so tired and sleepy =/ i need my beauty sleep xD haha

we cycled for another 1.5 hours to reach our 4th pitsop @ Changi Village.

Woodlands --> Selatar Club Road --> Jalan Kayu --> Pasir Ris Plaza --> Changi Village. (5.55am)

i can't wait to get off the bike and rest my butt. so tired, leg and butt totally in pain!! majority of the people were taking a short nap on the bench. and i'm sitting on the ground napping. haha. and there's this very mini kitten we saw there.

kitten xD

and lastly, our last journey towards East Coast Park. this last distance was like hell, the route at Changi Park was like never ending. i was already cycling at full speed but it seems like i'm still stucked down at Changi Park.

on the right hand side of the route was Changi Airport. it was so nice to see the plane took off and touched down! and the sound of the plane taking off was soooooo loud!!

and i must admit that Changi Airport was really big! i cycled for very quite a long distance towards East Coast Park, but the Changi Airport was still within my sight.

i cycled for 10 minutes, i see the airport. i cycled for the next 20 minutes, i still can see the airport =S i cycled for another 30 minutes, the airport is still not out of my sight =/

omg, 5.19km to East Coast Park

the view of Changi Airport xD

and finally, don't know after how long, the airport was no longer within my sight... which means, i'm getting nearer and nearer from East Coast Park.

i stopped by at a shelter area and waited for Ginnette and Moo, i'm really sleepy and tired and my legs were totally wobbly! lol. i stood down there waited for quite some times and i finally saw them coming. we took a 15 minutes rest at the shelter area, and i fell asleep there nearly falling off from the seat =X

@ the shelter area (7.00am).

we had enough rest and ready to continue our final route to East Coast Park.

out of Changi Park finally..

and we entered the East Coast Park zone, saw Sam and friends and we continued our journey together, being the last few.

and it's nightmare to us because we were at the extreme far end of East Coast Park, we cycled finished the entire Changi Park and finally reached East Coast Park, but we're only at Area H, and we have to cycle all the way back to Area C to return the bike.

imagine after cycling for the whole entire night, and we still have to complete Area H, Area G.... Area C. and you know how long is one area? *faint* no more energy T_T

we had no choice but to force our legs to keep on pedal. for a moment, i cycled until i dozed off and unknowingly... i cycled to the the grass patch on my left side that woke me up in shock!!!

immediately balance myself.. phew, almost fell down =S. and that totally woke me up xD and yeahhh, finally reached Area C at around 8.20am!!!

Woodlands --> Selatar Club Road --> Jalan Kayu --> Pasir Ris Plaza --> Changi Village --> East Coast Park. (8.20am)

Damien and his friends were already there like long ago, they were the first few to be back, and they waited 45 minutes for us =/ quickly returned the bike and went to McDonald's for toilet break. we decided not to have breakfast, and went home straight to catch our long lost sleep. haha

we took 196 back to Bukit Merah Central and made full use of the bus journey sleeping inside. totally very tired and sleepy zzz.

what a great satisfaction after completing the whole cycling ride. yay, we have completed a whole 75km distance, by cycling ^.^Y. *applaud*
