JB Trip
what a perfect Good Friday for a short JB trip. since it's a public holiday, we got to meet up early at Kranji to avoid the crowd. but who knows there's already a long queue forming up, and that short little journey from Woodlands checkpoint to the Malaysia checkpoint literally took us more than 45 minutes to reach. traffic jam was damn serious.
first stop, we went to have lunch at Curry Fish Head at Kam Long Restaurant which Yvonne strongly recommended. anyway, it was really cheap, RM51 for a large claypot of Curry Fish Head + 6 bowls of rice + 5 cans of drinks.
whee whee, nice and delicious.

Kam Long Restaurant

queueing outside.

where is our lunch??

yeah, food served!

CURRY FISH HEAD
woahh, after lunch we headed back to JB City Square for shopping. apparently, there was nothing much for us to buy. yeahh i have lots of things to buy when i first went there, but then after i have been there for quite a few times, i felt that there is nothing much actually. a better bargain would be to dine in at their restaurant, other than that - nothing!
well, we decided to catch a movie there. afterall, the ticket price was really cheap. imagine it was only RM10 for a public holiday price?! yes, less than S$5. in Singapore i think need at least S$11. haha. and of all movie, they choose Dark Flight. what? zombie show? i love horror movie, but i hate gore and zombie show. wekkk! the poster for Dark Flight gave me a feeling of zombie kind-of-movie. awww, i gonna hide my head inside my bag =/ hahahah. yea, go ahead and laugh lol.

CATHAY @ City Square
and next, head over to Secret Recipe for desserts.. oh yeah, i'm craving for cheese cake, and it's super cheap over there. it costs around RM7 for a slice of cake, almost the same as Singapore. the only difference are, it's $7 in ringgits, and not $7 SGD. hahahaha.

Secret Recipe

waiting anxiously for our cakes!

OUR CAKES!
next up, we decided to take neoprints. haha, like little kids huh =D but then, their neoprints wasn't that cheap. cannot really remember, but it was around RM30 and above.

and in the end, only can select 3 photos

neoprints
and lastly, we have dinner at Nando's. ordered 1/4 chicken plus 2 sides and i couldn't finish it. next time i shall try the extra most spicy one. haha. have to up my spicy level. anyway, my order only RM24. why are the foods over at JB so cheap?! hahaha

toilet hahah

1/4 chicken + 2 sides
cheers!!!!
last group photo.
and yea, took bus back to Woodlands Checkpoint, waited the 960 like mad, it took like almost 30 minutes to reach. by the time the bus came, it was almost 11pm. alighted at Kranji and took MRT to Dover and transferred 166 back home. SO TIRED!!!

Random Hangout: Movie | Dinner | Shopping
whee!~ a random hanging out with the NS police officers whom i knew from Subordinate Courts. pretty nice, fun and crazy to hang out with actually. the planning was kind of hard to accommodate my dates. majority of my Saturday, i have Chingay Rehearsal, so we have no choice but to make it on a Sunday instead =D
it was raining like mad when i was on my to meet them at Iluma, after waiting for all to reach, we bought Shaolin movie tickets at Filmgrade Cinema at $10 each. too bad, weekend ticket costs this much =D and then head over to Pastamania at Bugis for lunch.

Kay Wah and Seok Chin trying to be funny. adding funny ingredients into the drink?!
Eugene acting cool? and Royce blur look? lol

they added lots of funny ingredients into my mushroom soup.
and i actually drank it!!! haha.. tasted not too bad. *yummy*

all of us
Me, Kay wah, Seok Chin, Rui Feng, Eugene and Royce xD
after our lunch, we immediately walked back to Iluma for our movie which will be starting at 3pm. anyway, my first time watching at Filmgrade, not a bad experience i had. it can be considered one of the best cinema, although my top 1 cinema is still Golden Village xD
Shaolin movie is nice, just that the ending is a little too tragic. everyone died, omg!!! i like Andy Lau classic line in the movie, "他不死,我睡不着". not forgetting Jackie Chan appearance who brings joy and laughter to the audiences xD "俺不会打架".
after movie, we went to play at the arcade. walked one round first, and we started off with DDR. anyway, it's freakin' painful to dance barefooted, i kept on stepping on those screw =S don't know got bruise anot =X lol. by the way, the real DDR king is Eugene. madness, he danced until so power, like floating like that. haha.
and next, we went to play the Air Hockey. we took turns and played, and the best part was when it was Rui Feng's turn to play. he got his standby position like playing table tennis, and he played VIOLENTLY!!! can see all his evil aura floating out lol. Eugene tried one round and he gave up terribly. he said he cannot even see the plate because everything happened too fast!! LOL
i don't know why, but Rui Feng facial expression, plus his posture all looked damn funny. every single hit he strike made us laugh like mad. we laughed until squatted down on the floor, stomach cramped, tears all flow out, etc.

DDR-ing
whee!~ and dinner is next. we walked to Bugis Junction to decide what to eat. and majority voted Japanese food, so we looked like some idiots walked back to Iluma again. lol.and lastly, we decided on Ebisboshi Shotengai @ Iluma. my first time eating there, and their self-ordering system is damn cool. we used a pen and tap on what we wanted to eat, and so on.
we ordered one side dish, Okonomiyaki Style Gyoza, to share. and i ordered my set of Fried Asparagus Prawns and Pork Cutlet, with Pink Guava drink! haha. i love sour drink!

@ Ebisboshi Shotengai

cute eh?

our drinks!

the ordered foods...

mine!! i love prawn!!
Fried Asparagus Prawns and Pork Cutlet

Japanese style of lo-hei
HUAT AH!!!

time to indulge, friends!

hungry people!
anyway, it was really very very funny whenever Rui Feng is around. he tends to do silly things that made people laugh. he was trying to catch the female waitress attention, so he kept on disturbing the girl, asking her to top up the green tea, hot water, asking for mayonnaise sauce, and some totally random unrelated questions =/
he even went to ask for her number and whether can take a picture with her, but sadly. tio rejected! hahaha. i bet the girl can't wait to fled off from this weird uncle. haha.
anyway, this weird uncle suddenly blurted out something to me, he asked me whether i felt protected because there are five policemen with me now -.-" LOL. funny lah him!~

group photo xD
time to digest our food. lol. we went over to Bugis Street to do some Chinese New Year shopping. in the end, i did not get anything for myself. haha. and then, we went deciding whether to chill out at some coffee houses. but lastly, we chose to all go home. and so, we left Bugis at around 10pm.

Punggai Trip Day 3
9th January 2011 - Sunday
Malaysia, Punggai Trip Day 3
seriously, all of us overslept on our last day. only Joshua who managed to wake up on time and went out for breakfast. as for the rest, all still sleeping soundly until like 9.30am. and the van will be leaving at 10am!!~
omg, 4 people haven't wash up, haven't pack up, haven't even have the time to go out for breakfast. we do everything in x3 speed, and those people outside kept on knocking our door to stress us. completed packing up everything just nice at 10am, went out and the van was already waiting down there. we can forget about having our breakfast. lol.

9.44am!!

picture time while packing.
final checking for any leftover or forgotten items, and time to leave the chalet. board the van and followed them back to Singapore. but then, we felt it was kind of wasted to come all the way to Malaysia, and we didn't even spend or buy anything here.
so Moo suggest to the in-charge here to ask the driver to drop us at JB City Square Mall. at least, for us to do some shopping and at the same time have our lunch there. we were definitely starving by the time.

and they were playing the movie, Ip Man 2 on the van.
although this would be my second time watching it, but it was still exciting as ever. haha. anyway, we reached JB City Square Mall at around 11.35amand Ip Man was at its most exciting and climax part, but sadly we have to get down. lol. it's okay, i watched the show before already xD
alighted the van, grabbed all our bags and bid farewell to the rest who is going back to Singapore. and then, a new journey begins!! haha

City Square

the place
after walking one round of the place, we started hunting for a place to have our lunch. we were already starving due to the fact that we didn't have our breakfast at all this morning!
anyway, we came across this restaurant called Season's. and they were like having some interlink with Swensens which i have no idea how was their relationship like. you see, i saw Swensen's logo on their menu. so there must be some interlink with each other, and the food they served was exactly the same. ahhhh, am i right?

Season's = Swensens?

our orders
i ordered Seafood Baked Rice!!!
and it was really very affordable to eat at JB. 5 sets of food only costed RM87.80 ($36.90). My Seafood Baked Rice was only RM13.90 ($5.80). so freakin' cheap!! anyway, their price was the same in JB and in Singapore. the only difference was, one is in Malaysia Riggits, and the other was in Singapore Dollars! LOL

the bill
after lunch, we shop around the place before heading to café BR for ice-cream desserts. hmm, so many ice-cream choices to choose, i decided to take the basic chocolate chip, one scoop with wafer cone @ RM9++

café baskin robbins

chocolate chip *yummy*

ice cream rocks!!

time to indulge ourselves with ice-cream xD
continued to do some last minute shopping before heading down to the checkpoint to take public transport back. bought a few pieces of printed tees there as well.
time to move on, and we followed the sign which led our way back to the Malaysia Checkpoint. got our passport stamped, took 170 back to Singapore Checkpoint, scan our passpart and fingerprint. officially out of Malaysia, and back to Singapore! haha.
went down to queue for the bus 160 which will be going all the way to Jurong East Interchange, much more nearer for us to go home than going home from Kraji. haha. but 160 seriously took very long to come. we at least waited for 30 - 45 minutes for it to come.

towards Singapore

bored...
while waiting for 160...
going home soon xD
anyway, it was indeed a tiring 3 days trip. although it was really very boring at Punggai, especially when there's no shopping, no food court, no restaurant, nothing.. not even wi-fi for us to communicate with the outside world.
we were like totally stuck in somewhere very kampong-like. but the 3 days we 5 shared together was definitely worth it. the stargazing at night was even more awesome. i have never seen the sky full of stars before, really!
yes, and not forgetting how we spend our daytime together. we explored randomly around the place, back to the room... and then eat & sleep, eat & sleep. seriously, out of my so many overseas trip, this trip totally broke my record of sleeping the most in a single trip. lol.
and one last thing i have to mention. i don't know why, but when i woke up this morning, my hands and legs were full of mosquitoes bites! i remembered very clearly, i covered myself from head to toe. why do i still get so many bites, while the rest who have most of their hands and legs exposed out, got no bites at all?!
those mosquitoes were really very clever. they purposely bite on the open gap in between my pant and sock. lol. and overall, i got myself 29 bites in total! NICE!!~

1 Day Batam Trips
a labour day trip to Batam, organised by the Family Court. i was psyco-ed by the people to go, and since i am free, why not? it's a one day trip, with seafood lunch plus city tour for $60 only.
i exchanged SGD$50 to Rupiah 327,000 just one day before the trip. haha. and so, we're supposed to meet 7am at Harbourfront. it's a weekend + public holiday and so our boss wanted us to be there 1.5 hour before departure to avoid the crowd.
but we're still stuck in the crowd anyway =/ the queue was much more scary than last year i went. haha. scanned through our passport and went through the gate...
and suddenly i heard someone called my name!! i turned and it was Sangeetha!! haha. she was working as the immigration officer. and she looked so cool with the uniform. awww, i love uniform xD
while waiting for our ferry gate to be opened...

Fiona, Hui Ting and me & Lisa, Fiona and me.

me and Fiona vs me and Hui Shan.
oh Hui Shan was the ex-staff in my Finance Department. she quitted and i replaced her position. haha. we hit it off quite well, and together we were complaining on her ex-supervisor who are my current supervisor!! one of the main reason she quitted was because of HER!!!!! oh my, i hope i can survive for at least a year!!

the Family Courts colleagues!!
we waited for super long for the gate to open. and once it was opened, those kiasu people just chiong for it. haha. and it's a free seating, everybody will be fighting for seats.

and we were the group of silly one who chose to sit on top, the open area. we thought of enjoying the sea breeze. but who knows it turned out to be so hot. we waited for like 30 minutes for the ferry to start moving, everyone was perspiring and complaining why wasn't there any wind?!
and when the ferry finally started, the side of the boat blocked our wind, we have to move further out to feel the wind.

playing paparazzi!!!~

wind + sun combination!
and yay! finally we reached Batam Ferry Terminal. i'm back at Batam again!!!! we queued the super long queue to get our passport stamped, and out to meet our tour guide for the day.

there's no such shops at the ferry terminal the previous time i came
the first station, they brought us to buy Keropok! lol. the salesperson there were all hardsell their fish/prawn/sotong crackers. they sold all kind of crackers. so i 意思意思 buy some back too. don't wanna leave the place empty-handed =/
next, the tour guide brought us to have masssage at Batam very famous Reflexology Therapy Massage & Family Relaxing Centre. i did not go for it as it costed S$22, and i only exchanged S$50 =X so majority did not go, the whole bus only 5 people went for it =D
so while waiting for them to finish the whole entire massage session for 1.5 hours, the driver drove us to 1st Factory Outlet and Batam City Square for shopping

this place sold the clothes all so expensive. not worth buying!~
after that, we finally went to Batam City Square. we have 1 hour to shop there. actually there's nothing much to buy there, we just did some random shopping. i bough a small bottle of nail polish back xD
left the shopping mall and went to fetch the massaging people. haha. after that we were brought to some dried grocery store. most people chose to stay inside the bus for the air-con. Fiona and me went down too see see. we went around sampling food. haha. sample food no need money xD

all the preserved and dried food.
we went Golden Prawn 555 for our seafood lunch. the place looked like a cottage hut, so villlage feel. and they have all sort of seafood.

i think the best food was the fried squid. haha. i didn't eat the prawn, it was so mini small. don't wanna waste time removing the shell, later removed the shell, the prawn became shrimp. haha. no point eating that.
the flower crab wasn't that bad. just that the crab don't have super huge pincers. the flower crab pincer so skinny. haha. i stopped eating crab when my crab flew away from my plate =X haha. so pai seh!~
and and and... the drinks! their coconut was very huge! got some was even bigger than my head. haha. i don't really like coconut water, so i drank coke! for those who drank coconut, they were complaining that they looked as if they were drinking soup! haha. tooooo big already!

coconut vs coke!

and next, it was shopping time! they brought us to 2 shopping mall before we left for home. the first one, we went Nagoya Hill Shopping Mall. most of them went for manicure and pedicure, i went shopping with Hui Ting instead. haha. i bought a shirt at Rp95,000.
and so when most of them were done with their nails, it was almost time for our next shopping centre.
our last shopping trip at Batam Centre. i realised the time they gave for the last shopping mall was too short. by the time we settled our dinner, there's no time for us to shop already.

walked for awhile before deciding to settle our dinner at Gadeno. haha. their pan pizza was extremely cheap. it was only Rp5,000 (S$0.70) for a normal pan pizza?! haha.
in the end, Lisa, Hui Ting and me decided to share on Double Set B with 2 pan pizza, 1 Spaghetti, Garlic bread and 2 Coke for Rp60,000 (S$9.20). while Fiona, Hui Ping and Xue Li on the other table ordered separate things.

our dinner.
anyway, their service wasn't very good. they had difficulty understanding what we were talking about. our food came pretty fast. but Xue Li's spaghetti came very slow. by the time we finished our food, her spaghetti was not served yet. and we were running out of time.
and so, the 3 of us decided to settle our bill and do our last minute shopping. i still have alot Rupiahs left, and i don't want to bring them back to Singapore. we called for bill for like 3 times, but still no one came. in the end, we fed up and walked towards the counter to pay the bill. so irritated.
yay, so the 3 of us went off and running like mad to find for anything to buy. the other 3 still inside the restaurant settling their food and bill. Xue Li in the end cancelled her order. poor girl!~ and she chiong to supermarket to buy chicken essense. lol.
i have no idea what to buy, so i just randomly picked a hat for Rp90,000. it was pretty pretty hat okay!
back to our bus and off we go to the Ferry Terminal. i don't know why but everyone was running like mad. running round and round the zig-zag queue when there's only 2 people in the queue?! we were all carrying big bag small bag and run. looked pretty lame when the gate wasn't opened at all!! HAHA.

the hat that i bought at the very last minute!

me, Lisa, Huiping, Xue Li and Fiona.
so tiring, and we slept throughout the journey back to HarbourFront. and i wanted to salute to Fiona.. okay, when we reached Harbourfront and people were pushing their way out, there's this auntie who were pushing Xue Li at the back. Fiona just turned back and said, 后面的auntie, 你可以不要一直推我的朋友吗?(the auntie behind, can you stopped pushing my friend?) wow, Fiona is my idol now!!~ power
anyway, Lisa and me got quite some money left, so we tried to change it back to Singapore dollars. i managed to get back $10.60 (just a loss of $0.20 nia) and Lisa got back like $24. haha. so happy~ i only spent $40 in Batam. LOL
and took bus back.... HOME SWEET HOME! so tired after a one full day trip. and what's more the 3 shopping mall they brought us, Lisa and me went before last year already =X hahaha. luckily i only exchanged $50, Batam wasn't a good shopping place. i still prefer Bangkok. it's a shopping paradise with good bargain!~
one day i must try zhuhai! i heard it's as good as BKK shopping xD

but we're still stuck in the crowd anyway =/ the queue was much more scary than last year i went. haha. scanned through our passport and went through the gate...
and suddenly i heard someone called my name!! i turned and it was Sangeetha!! haha. she was working as the immigration officer. and she looked so cool with the uniform. awww, i love uniform xD
while waiting for our ferry gate to be opened...
